Adequate with annoying problems
The hotel is on the bottom road following the coast so close to beach spots, walk to Isola Bella to the south 7mins, and the cable car station is a couple of minutes walk. There is also a bus stop near the cable car, but be prepared to wait an hour for a bus! So for the lower part of Taormina, the hotel is well located. It is also set off the road so traffic noise is not a problem. Although old school Italian style it is quite comfortable, except for the bed. Hard as a marble bench. Everything was clean and linen fresh. Very noisy plumbing as per usual. No aircond in the entire hotel, because being Sicily, it is turned off the very last day of the high season so room was hot and unventilated although still hot late October. The reception lady told me to just open the balcony doors with no security nor mosquito nets so made for an less than secure comfortable night. The pool is very strange but weirdly lovely floating above the rooves with a beautiful view. This hotel with a makeover, especially the pool/terrace wasted spaces, could be sensational, but it’s not. Given the location, it’s acceptable value at 69 euro a night.
Bed was like a marble slab, plumbing from above sounded like a waterfall, cupboards in other rooms banging all night…all they need are some little cupboard closure cushions!

I felt uncomfortable getting the woman’s attention at from desk and every conversation or question, seemed to be a massive chore for her to answer. While clean, the whole place needs a refresh and modernisation. The rooftop pool area is old and feels dinghy
